About

Erin DaPrato is a Key & Specialty Costumer with nearly two decades of experience shaping character, continuity, and on-set workflow across film and television. Beginning her career in 2009, Erin has worked in nearly every corner of the costume department — from Breakdown Artist to Assistant Costume Designer to Key Costumer — building a deep, hands-on technical foundation that informs her leadership on set today. Erin is based in Toronto and available for work worldwide.

Her work spans a wide range of genres and production scales, including period drama, high-concept sci-fi, superhero media, action-heavy blockbusters, romantic comedies, and episodic television. She has supported global productions across Canada, the United States, Europe, and even Iceland and Jordan during international location shoots for Star Trek: Discovery.

Known for meticulous research, calm under pressure, and seamless collaboration, Erin blends creative intuition with practical problem-solving. She specializes in specialty costuming and complex character builds, including:

• historical dressing and textile research

• super suits and action-ready specialty builds

• alien and creature costuming

• prosthetic and full-gore effects dressing

• stunt dressing protocols that preserve both safety and costume integrity

Throughout her career, Erin has dressed some of the industry’s most demanding characters and performers — from gothic creatures for Guillermo del Toro, to the Klingon Empire in Star Trek: Discovery, to action leads like Vin Diesel on xXx: Return of Xander Cage, where precision, speed, and actor support were essential on stunt-heavy days.

On set, Erin is recognized for maintaining airtight continuity while fostering a calm, efficient environment for cast and crew. She builds systems that allow designers’ visions to hold steady through long shooting schedules, rapid resets, high-intensity stunts, and complex ensemble work. Directors and designers rely on her clarity and consistency; performers trust her professionalism, safety awareness, and discretion.

Her credits include The Boys, Star Trek: Discovery, Alias Grace, Crimson Peak, Suicide Squad, The Lost Symbol, Cross, Doc, and numerous film and television productions across genres.

A lifelong learner with ongoing studies in Economics at Memorial University, Erin combines artistic craft with an analytical understanding of workflow, labour planning, and production logistics. Her interests include historical dressing techniques, lace-making, knitting, hand stitching, and researching emerging technologies in costume production.

Erin’s work is defined by integrity, technical mastery, and the ability to keep even the most complex days running smoothly. More than a costumer, she is a creative collaborator who ensures every costume supports performance, story, and the designer’s vision with precision and care.
